Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery/Nose Reshaping)
Nose being the centre of face draws maximum attention. A nose may be deformed or misshapen from birth or following an injury.Rhinoplasty is a procedure that involves adjusting the size and shape of the nose to make it more proportionate to rest of face. Rhinoplasty may also be performed to correct a breathing problem or deformity.
During rhinoplasty surgery, incisions are typically made in a hidden position inside the nostrils. Bony structure, cartilage or soft tissues may be altered to give a pleasing result. In some cases an incision may be made across the skin that separates the two nostrils to have a better control over the procedure.
A splint is usually applied after surgery for stability. Usually the patients are discharged the same day from the hospital. There will be bruising and swelling around the nose and eyes for the first few days, but this should quickly subside.
